A PLOT of land on an industrial estate has hit the market for £1.5million ahead of plans to build nine new commercial units for businesses.
The site, previously an “undeveloped soil recycling yard” sits on Rochford’s Purdeys Industrial Estate and now a developer is being urged to come forward and build the new units.
Plans were given the green light by Rochford Council back in June 2023 and the site has since been cleared ready for development.
According to the advert, the plans will “change the landscape of the estate, offering space for more local businesses to join the bustling industrial hub” and is a “unique opportunity for prospective business developers”.
Councillor Mike Steptoe, responsible for Rochford South ward, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative.
He said: “It sounds like a great opportunity.
“Anything like that is going to be good for the local economy. It could become something really beneficial to the area.
“With planning permission approved already, it can expand and be developed quite quickly.
“It sounds like a good opportunity for someone to take and help the local economy as well as the industrial estate.”
The site is being listed at £1.5million by Hair & Son Commercial property agents.
The approved plans highlight how the proposals will help compliment the existing units on the industrial estate.
Plans state: “The scheme will enhance the potential of the estate as a major local employment location.
“The scheme shall allow for a more desirable land use and so enhance the existing estate and take advantage of its designation for employment use.
“A focus of the scheme is to provide a flexible working environment that is attractive to both small and large business use.”
The proposed scheme will make use of the existing access road, new site access and yard space.
Each unit will be numbered with the option for a business logo above the entrance.
A reception area shall provide a formal entrance into each unit, with accessible WC and office space while each unit shall be equipped with at least one accessible WC and tea prep area for employees.
