Two people have been rescued by firefighters after getting trapped in their car in floodwater near Billericay.
Firefighters were called to Buttsbury Wash, near Mountnessing Road, Billericay, at around 9.03am this morning.
Crews from Billericay and Brentwood reported that the two people were trapped in their SUV in floodwater.
Swift water rescue trained firefighters from Leigh were called to assist and rescued the two people using a water rescue sled.
Station Manager Pete Donovan has urged motorists to turn around and find another route if you come across a flooded road.
He said: "If you come across a flooded road, please turn around and find another route. Remember just 2ft of water is enough to float a car.
"It is not worth risking your life and damaging your vehicle.
“We have got lots of heavy rain coming our way and these incidents can be easily avoided by simply turning around if your route is flooded."
