A cyclist has been left in a life-threatening condition after a crash with a car in south Essex.
Emergency services were called to Brock Hill, in Wickford, at around 8.08am following reports of a crash.
An ambulance and an air ambulance attended and a man was airlifted to The Royal London Hospital.
Essex Police have confirmed the man is in a life-threatening condition.
Brock Hill remained closed for around six hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called by paramedics in the East of England Ambulance Service with reports of a collision in Brock Hill, Runwell, at about 8.10am today, Tuesday, October 1.
"At the scene we found a cyclist and a car had collided and the cyclist had sustained life-threatening injuries.
"He was airlifted to hospital."
A spokesman for The East of England Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 8.08am with reports of a collision in Brock Hill, Runwell.
"We sent East Anglian Air Ambulance, an ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle.
"A man is being taken to The Royal London Hospital by air ambulance."
