A SHOCKED resident woke up to find a lorry in his living room after the vehicle smashed through the front of the home.
Police have cordoned off Haven Road, on Canvey, this morning after a skip lorry crashed into the front of a home.
Lee Spiller, who lives at the house with his partner and her mother, was sleeping upstairs when the skip lorry hit and slept through the impact.
Sadly, their cat Austin was hit during the crash and tragically had to be put down due to the extent of his injuries.
The 32-year-old said: "I woke up and just saw a lorry in the front room. I came down to make a cup of tea and check for any post. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and looked up and saw a lorry.
"I thought I must be seeing stuff.
"It's going to be removed but we're waiting for the structural engineer to come. They don't know if when thy take the lorry out it might collapse.
"Right now my living room is in next door's living room."
This is the second time tragedy has struck the couple, as Lee says a previous flat was destroyed in a storm.
The couple's management agents have got them three nights at a hotel and then they say they will take it "one day at a time".
Lee's partner and her mother had been at work at the time of the crash and came home as soon as they got the call about the incident.
Matthew Doughty, the tenant's son who lives in Benfleet, said: "It's a good thing it went in at the angle it did, because if it went in at a more straight angle it would've cleared much more of the house.
