A NEW “rage room” is celebrating a successful first week since has throwing open its doors for customers to let off some steam in its hand-built destructible spaces.

Angry Smash Limited opened its two “rage rooms” last Tuesday on Shoebury’s Towerfield industrial estate.

Now punters can smash up furniture, from old TVs to wardrobes, to their heart’s content.

Since opening, owner Jake Tripp, 35, has spoken of the success and enjoyment he and partner, Charlie, have had watching people from across south Essex unleash havoc in their first week.

Jake said: “It has been really great, we have had people come down from all different walks of life, there has been a real mixture of people.

“We had a couple of young lads come down, which made me chuckle, they had autism and they really loved it.

“Their parents thought it was great and they said they would definitely bring them back, one of them did a number on our TV.”

The first of its kind in Shoebury and Southend, Angry Smash is near Jake’s other business, the Boyz, a waste management company who provide much of the destructible goods the rage room uses.

Jake added: “We do want to reach out to ADHD teenagers and those with autism and any disability, we would love to allow them to let loose and just give it a go.”

The business is currently half-booked out for days ahead and Charlie and Jake have been pushing to spread the word to people in Shoebury - with customers able to book 20-minute slots to vent their frustrations.Smash - a customer smashing up an old wardrobeSmash - a customer smashing up an old wardrobe (Image: Angry Smash Limited)

The rage room offers a wide range of weapons to use, including hammers, sledgehammers, golf clubs and tennis rackets all the way to bricks.

“It has actually been really fun to watch and people are really seeing the fun side of things, people are coming down and they get so worn out,” Jake continued.

“No one has completed the full 20 minutes yet, they are just knackered.

“This is part of the aim, and hopefully they will walk out less stressed. My mum came in and took part, she was very stressed out when she came to see us opening.

“She came out laughing and was in a really good mood after.”
