Confirming his exit from the ITV programme, the Coronation Street actor told The Sun: "I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.
"I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
"I love everyone who works on this show, and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds."
Daniel joined the soap all the way back in 2014 as Sean Tully's love interest before becoming a permanent fixture in Weatherfield.
Controversial scenes saw his character take drugs while in church, something the actor admitted that even his own mother couldn't bear to watch.
He said: "Of course, there are some people have been horrified by it, no less than my mother.
