Bosses at a new Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant are celebrating a successful start to business after opening in Eastwood.

Medusa on Rayleigh Road opened on July 11, serving authentic Turkish and Mediterranean food prepared by a chef more than 30 years experience.

The restaurant stands in the place of the former Mr Tang, a hugely popular Chinese restaurant with rave reviews on TripAdvisor before it closed on November 16.

Alex Sun, 34, owner of Medusa, described the opening as a "dream turned into reality" which means everything to the team.  said: “It’s exciting - we were fully booked for our opening last Friday, and have been busy since.

“Getting ready for the opening was smooth sailing, even though this is my first restaurant.”

Alex lives nearby and previously worked at Aspera, a Mediterranean restaurant in Benfleet, along with head chef Mahmut who he partnered with to bring Medusa to life.

He added: “We saw this place on the market and liked the location - it took four months to complete the refurb.

“We were pretty much ready to go by July 9 and had a really successful opening.”
Medusa serves pasta and risotto dishes, salads, steak and grill, and has a significant emphasis on seafood - with a kids menu and variety of dessert options.

For drinks, they serve a wide range of spirits, cocktails, beers and soft drink options.

The restaurant created a number of new jobs in the area, taking on 20 staff for the opening, with room for more new hires as time goes on.

Alex added: "After months of preparation, hard work, and anticipation, we finally opened our doors — and what a journey it has been already!

"We’ve now spent over a week together as a team, and it’s been nothing short of amazing.

"This photo captures the spirit, the smiles, and the pride we all share in building something special from the ground up.

"Thank you to everyone who helped bring Medusa to life

"To this amazing team: thank you for your passion, energy, and heart.

"To our guests: we can’t wait to welcome you and share what we’ve created.

"Here’s to the start of something truly special."
