A 94-year-old artist has been reunited with his beloved wife at a care home in Benfleet.

Frank Arthur Reynolds joined Godden Lodge Care Home, part of HC-One, to be with his wife who is already a resident.

Mr Reynolds has lived a life of creativity as a former graphic designer in Canada and interior designer in London.

He is also a passionate painter, having pursued this hobby for more than 20 years.

Landscapes are his favourite subjects, and his most cherished piece features a tranquil woodland stream.

Mr Reynolds said: "I can hear the water rushing when I look at the painting."

He continues to find joy in painting as a resident of the care home.

He added: "Painting gives me a great sense of satisfaction and an element of success."

His paintings are inspired by professional painters, with British artist Hazel Soan serving as a key influence in his work.

Several of his pieces are proudly displayed in the home's reception area for residents and visitors to enjoy.

However, Mr Reynolds prefers not to teach painting at this time.

He said: "Painting helps me retain my skills, and it passes the time in a way that feels worthwhile."

Despite his age, Mr Reynolds is currently working on a new landscape piece.

His advice to anyone thinking about taking up painting is simple: "Keep painting".

The care home staff and residents celebrate Mr Reynolds' artistic journey.

Lewis Chester, home manager, said: "We are so proud to showcase Frank's beautiful work.

"His creativity brings joy to our community, and we're honoured to help support his passion for painting."

Throughout his life, Mr Reynolds has been an active member of the Salvation Army, travelling widely with their brass band before finally settling back in England.

His love of art and music has made him a well-rounded individual with a lot to offer.

Frank added: "My love of painting continues to give myself and others pleasure."
