A Coronation Street legend has reportedly filmed their final scenes as they are set to leave the show for good.

Sally Ann Matthews, who plays the role of Jenny Bradley in the ITV soap, is set to leave after more than 30 years.

The actress first appeared in Coronation Street from 1986 to 1991, made a brief return in 1993 and returned again in February 2015, remaining a mainstay until now.

Following news that she has been axed from the soap, it has been reported that her finals scenes have now been filmed.

Matthews is set for her second departure from the Cobbles, revealing on August 1 that she will be leaving the ITV soap after "doing an extra ten years".

In a post on Instagram, she said: "I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much!

"It’s time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I’d ’grown up.’

"Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter."

Following her announcement, fellow TV stars and fans of the show shared how "wonderful" Matthews had been and how much she would be missed.

Former Coronation Street and Casualty actress Melanie Hill commented: "Onwards Sal. Corrie will miss you."

Another fan said on X, formerly Twitter, that Matthews leaving would be a "massive loss for the show".

Ahead of her exit, it has been reported that her final scenes have now been filmed.

According the The Sun, the actress wanted a "low key exit".

A source told the publisher: "She said her goodbyes and has now left Manchester. She was filming her exit when news about her axing first came to light.

They also added that an "exciting exit has been planned for her".

Sally Ann Matthews is not the only star to have left the show this year.

Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi Alahan, reportedly made the decision to leave the show after receiving a lack of storylines.

Colson Smith, who played PC Craig Tinker, also left the show this year.

The 27-year-old played Tinker on the show for 14 years, saw his character die after being beaten with a baseball bat by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), after he tried to arrest him.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, Smith said of his departure: “It literally is just working at Coronation Street (that I’ll miss the most) and calling that place my work.

“And it was weird, because when I got asked about highlights, I was trying to think of some of the things we’ve done, and I’ve done some mad things, I’ve met the (late) Queen, and I’ve done all this stuff, but it’s the simple stuff.

“Like, on a summer’s day at Corrie, we get an ice cream van, with all your mates and sit outside in the car park and the cast, the crew, the production team, the security staff, the cleaners, we’re all so tight there, so sitting out in the summer having an ice cream with your mates, they’re kind of the best days.

“It’s that craic, that’s the stuff that I won’t get at any other job, and that’s the stuff that I’ll miss forever.”
