The world's last seagoing paddle steamer is set to return to Southend this year, arriving at the pier in late September.

Waverley, the historic vessel built on the River Clyde in 1947, will be based at Southend Pier during its London and Thames sailing programme, which is provisionally set for September 23 to October 11.

Full timetable details will be released from February 2026.

The ship is expected to offer similar cruises to last year, including trips up the River Thames to London, outings to the wartime Red Sands Maunsell sea forts, journeys from Chatham to visit the Paddle Steamer Medway Queen, and voyages to Clacton.

The 2026 sailing programme is being prepared with the planned first sailing of the season on the Clyde on Friday 8th May and will cover multiple regions across the UK including the Bristol Channel, North Wales, the South West, the South Coast, and the Isle of Wight.

With more than 70 calling points, passengers will be able to choose from a wide range of day, afternoon, and evening cruises.

Bookings for each region will open as individual timetables are released.
