A theatre venue in Southend is welcoming a popular musical to its stage featuring a big West End face.
Cliffs Pavilion will host the hit production of Waitress, starring Carrie Hope Fletcher in the lead role of Jenna.
The show is scheduled to run from Wednesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 20.
A spokesman for Cliffs Pavilion said: "We’re delighted to announce Carrie Hope Fletcher (Calamity Jane, Heathers, The Addams Family) will star as Jenna in Waitress, with Les Dennis as Old Joe."
Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and talented pie-maker who longs for a fresh start in life.
When a new doctor arrives in town, her world is thrown into turmoil.
With support from her co-workers Becky and Dawn, Jenna discovers that laughter, love, and friendship might just be the recipe for happiness.
The show has been described as “joyously life-affirming,” featuring a score by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, who penned hits like Love Song and Brave.
The musical is brought to the stage by a female-led creative team.

The book is by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).
Cliffs Pavilion described the production as “the real deal,” quoting the Independent, and urged audiences to “treat yourself to a slice of five-star musical pie.”
The show has garnered standing ovations in both the West End and on Broadway.

Reviews have called the musical “warm, witty, wise, and hilarious” (Express).
Tickets are now on sale, ranging from £26 to £59 depending on seating preferences.
A captioned performance for the hard of hearing will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 7.30pm.
