A drug dealer jailed for running a Brentwood crack cocaine and heroin line was in court just weeks earlier for violently abusing his pet puppy.

The Echo was in court this week as east London crook Rashid Chin-King was jailed for the supply of Class A drugs in south Essex.

Essex Police raided him in December – but we can now reveal that in November, he was in the dock at Snaresbrook Crown Court for having abused his dog.

The 25-year-old was prosecuted by the RSPCA after it received “distressing” footage of Chin-King “delivering three forceful kicks” to the head of his pet bully.

He was then seen “placing his foot on the young dog’s skull and pressing it into the ground”, as the dog cowered against a fence, “clearly terrified”.

RSPCA inspector Shahnaz Ahmad said the attack on the dog was “seemingly unprovoked”.

“Although the footage had no sound, the dog’s mouth was open as if he was crying out or yelping,” she wrote in a statement to the court.

Chin-King, of Heaton Close, Chingford, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and was banned from owning a dog for eight years.

The RSPCA thanked the member of the public who came forward with the footage, saying: “This was a shocking incident involving a very young puppy who had no way to escape.”

He was also fined £500 and given a 12-month community order – which he was in breach of weeks later when police raided him and found him running a Class A drugs line.

Essex Police began investigating when one of Chin-King’s south Essex customers died of a drug overdose.

Analysis of the victim’s phone revealed their dealings with Chin-King’s drugs line – and when police investigated that phone number, it turned out the bungling dealer had unwittingly tied himself to the unregistered phone by using it to contact the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

A raid of his address turned up the drugs phone.

At Southend Crown Court on Monday (January 26), he pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in Class A drug dealing between March and December 2025.

He was sentenced to three years in prison after the court heard his other previous convictions included two for possession of bladed articles.
