Here is a closer look at what’s on offer at the popular Essex venue in February.

Comedy and drama

Phil Ellis takes to the stage on February 14 with his tour Phil Ellis: Bath Mat.

The "comic genius" returns fresh from three award wins at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe and promises an evening of "laugh-out-loud profound silliness, superbly crafted gags and constant surprises".

The Dickens Theatre Company arrives later in the month for their 'Revision on Tour' productions of Macbeth on February 23-24 and Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde on February 25.

Their adaptation of Macbeth features the infamous Porter as narrator, guiding audiences through a world of ambition, betrayal, and dark magic, while Jekyll & Hyde brings 1888 London to life in a chilling tale of identity and horror.

Dan Tiernan follows on February 25 with his show Dan Tiernan: All In.

The 2022 BBC New Comedy Award Winner promises a "blistering hour of stand-up" with "explosive energy, razor-sharp punchlines, and tightly-packed gags about a man on the brink".

Soul - Omar Lye-Fook and QCBA (Image: Southend Theatres)

Musical highlights

British soul legend Omar Lye-Fook MBE takes the stage on February 25 in The Jazz Mix Presents: Omar + QCBA, a soulful fusion of jazz, R&B, funk, and soul featuring the acclaimed trumpet player Quentin Collins and saxophonist Brandon Allen.

Alternative rock icons Suede perform on February 20 as part of their 2026 UK tour promoting Antidepressants, their tenth studio album.

The album has already been praised by critics as "intensely energetic" and "a defiant, death-defying record".

Musical - Top Hat (Image: Southend Theatres)

West End glamour

From February 24 to 28, audiences can enjoy the "effervescent, elegant and exhilarating" Top Hat the Musical, based on the classic 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Featuring Irving Berlin’s timeless score and winner of the 2013 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, this sparkling stage adaptation promises romance, comedy, and dazzling choreography in a brand-new UK production by acclaimed director Kathleen Marshall.
