Rehearsals are now underway in Westcliff for a major musical heading to the city this summer.

"Barnum – The Circus Musical" will be performed at the Cliffs Pavilion from June 30 to July 4, with first-look rehearsal images released by Southend Theatres.

The production, led by West End performer Lee Mead as P.T. Barnum, will feature more than 20 actor‑musicians, acrobats and circus acts.

The show, presented by Bill Kenwright Ltd and the Watermill Theatre, includes classic songs such as Join the Circus, Colours of My Life and Come Follow the Band.

Performances will take place in the venue’s main auditorium, with tickets priced between £21 and £62, plus a transaction fee of up to £3.95.

A spokesman for Southend Theatres said: “Step right up.

"The first rehearsal photos for Barnum are here, and Lee Mead is already stealing the show.

"Catch the spectacle live at the Cliffs Pavilion."
