A south Essex man has been jailed for a campaign of frauds committed on behalf of an Albanian drugs gang.
Simon Jackson, 40, of Cricketers Lane in Herongate, Brentwood, was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday (March 19) over a litany of lies and deceptions.
He had pleaded guilty at Southend Crown Court in December to a single count of fraud, encompassing a wide range of criminal behaviour.
Between June 2022 and January 2024, he made a series of false representations to procure care insurance policies.
They included claiming the drivers had European driving licences instead of Albanian ones, covering up driving bans and points on drivers’ licences and using “random addresses” that were “cheaper for insurance purposes”.
Jackson also accepted using fake driving licences, falsifying bills and using bank card details bought from people no longer in the country.
Judge Samantha Cohen sentenced him on Thursday to two years and eight months in prison.
