EMERGENCY services were called to a kitchen fire started a plastic container in south Essex.
The blaze happened at a property in Brentwood yesterday (Sunday, April 5) where the container was left next to a gas hob and began to melt.
No one was injured but the fire service has warned residents of the danger with leaving hobs unattended.
Watch Manager Mark Elsey said: “This incident is a strong reminder of how quickly everyday kitchen items can become dangerous.
“Leaving a hob unattended, even briefly, can lead to fire spreading rapidly - especially when items like plastic are involved.”
