A much‑loved dog in south Essex is hoping his wait for a forever home will soon come to an end after more than a year.
Hudson, a three‑year‑old Rottweiler, has spent more than 425 days in kennels at Dogs Trust Basildon.
The charity is now appealing for experienced adopters who can offer Hudson the patience and understanding he needs.
Hudson arrived at Dogs Trust with very little known about his background.
Over time, staff have seen his playful, affectionate personality shine through once trust has been built.
Despite this, Hudson can take time to feel comfortable around new people.
This has meant the large, bouncy dog has been overlooked by potential adopters in the past.

Hudson is looking for an adult‑only home where he can be the only pet, and a quiet home in a low‑traffic area would help him feel safe and relaxed.
He is muzzle‑trained and will need confident owners happy to keep him on a lead when out walking.
Access to a secure, private outdoor space would allow him to explore and unwind.
Hudson also has ongoing medical needs, which will be discussed fully with potential adopters.
The charity says it is essential that adopters take time to build a bond with Hudson before rehoming.
This includes visiting the centre several times so Hudson and his new family can get to know each other.

Lisa Cooper, manager at Dogs Trust Basildon, said: “Hudson is looking for confident adopters who are willing to take the time to get to know him and help him settle into home life.
“He is a great example of a dog who will truly thrive in the right environment and, with a routine and the chance to enjoy life as a ‘normal’ dog, will soon show off his wonderful personality.
“Hudson, along with so many of our other dogs, has been overlooked for far too long and is more than ready to be adopted into a suitable family.
“If you think your home and lifestyle meet this big, lovable pooch’s rehoming criteria, we’d love to hear from you.”
Those interested can find Hudson's details online, or can visit the centre in Nevendon Road, Wickford.
