A magician is set to take the spotlight in the live semi-finals of a national talent show.

Jake Banfield, from Essex, will perform his act on ITV's Britain's Got Talent this Saturday, competing in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and newcomer KSI.

He is vying for either the public vote or the coveted Golden Buzzer, which secures an immediate place in the final.

Only two acts will progress, with the winner earning £250,000 and a place on the bill at The Royal Variety Performance.

Each week, contestants from across the UK and beyond perform in hopes of impressing both the judges and the public.

With the golden buzzer in play, the stakes remain high throughout the semi-finals.

All acts are eligible to receive a golden buzzer from either the judging panel or hosts Ant and Dec.

This weekend's semi-final follow the recent success of Southend market trader Sonny Green, who secured a place in the final after Simon Cowell awarded him the golden buzzer for his moving poem dedicated to his sons.

The judges were visibly moved, with KSI brought to tears by the heartfelt performance.
