A TOP British comedian has amusingly praised the toilets of a Colchester venue.
Lou Sanders is a well-known comedy star, writer and actor who has continued to impress UK and international crowds since her career began in 2009.
After years of hard work, Lou went from being a part time complaints handler at Ofcom to a full-on comedy pro.
The stand-up comic, writer and actor has performed at Live at The Apollo, appeared in Amazon Prime’s Last One Laughing, and won the eighth series of Taskmaster in 2019.
She’s currently in between tours and brought a night of old and new material to Colchester Arts Centre on Monday for Lou Sanders & Friends.

Speaking to the Gazette after the well-received performance, she praised the venue.
Lou said: “I like this venue, I usually play it on my tour show when stuff is more worked up.
“I did ask who was here for my tour show and no one put their hand-up [laughs], so I thought I could say what I want.
“I do like the venue, the toilets especially are absolutely fantastic.”
Lou has also become a regular on TV as well, from performing standup on The Late Late Show with James Corden and appearances on QI, Travel Man: 48 Hours in…, Would I Lie to You?, and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

These highlights come after years of doing comedy on the side, and like most comedians, she has performed to small rooms at the start of her career.
Explaining one of the golden rules that has guided her through showbiz so far, Lou said: “I think I found it easier when I was being myself.
“You can compare yourself quite a lot, you can think ‘why aren’t I slick? Why am I not this or that?’
“You have to be authentic to what you are offering.
“It’s easier to stick with that really.”
During her Lou Sanders & Friends comedy set, she brings up a very funny questionnaire to the audience in an attempt to find a husband for herself.
“It’s a feminist piece, I nearly found a wife, she was my closest match really”, she says.
“It’s a nice way of adlibbing as well, and getting to know people, and making stuff up.
“I don’t actually think I’ll find my husband in the crowd because my audience are ‘uggos’ [laughs], not really at all.
“It’s a fun way of speaking to people, I speak to women and men.”

Although she may be a seasoned professional by now, Lou can have different feelings before going on stage.
Lou added: “It depends on what you’ve got to say, if you’ve just written a new bit you love, you’re quite excited to get out there.”
For this show, it turns out Lou drove herself, and she explained if it’s a big tour, then she’ll have a tour manager.
Concluding the interview, Lou discussed her car journey and whether she would be up for returning, she said: “I’ve definitely been here three times, doing different things before.
“I always get lost, the satnav brings you to the Mercury Theatre, and then you’re like ‘well, I’ve f***** it’.
“Oh god yeah, I’m always bloody coming to Colchester, it’s lovely.
“Anywhere that is not more than two hours from my house, I’ll go back to, unless they hate me.”
