A park in Chelmsford city centre was cordoned off following an incident.

Police were called to Central Park at around 7pm and remained at the scene after 10pm.

Residents reported four ambulances, eight police cars and an air ambulance were in attendance.

An Essex Police spokesman said at the time: "Officers remain on the scene of an incident in the area of Central Park.

"We were called at around 7pm and a cordon remains in place."

"There will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area, alongside other emergency services, as we respond and carry out our enquiries."

"We would ask the public to avoid the area at this time wherever possible to allow emergency services the space to work.

"We will provide further updates as soon as we are able."

It is unclear if the police cordon remains in place but residents have reported a large police presence in the area.
