Five exciting shows coming to Basildon's Towngate Theatre

The Towngate Theatre in Basildon is preparing for a busy run of summer performances, with a varied programme set to take to the stage over the coming weeks.

While the venue has a wide range of shows scheduled, these five stand-out shows highlight some of the key events audiences can look forward.

Leading the line-up is "Kai Widdrington: Evolution" on Friday, July 17.

The Strictly Come Dancing star brings his solo tour to the stage, charting his journey from competitive dancer to television favourite.

The show features a range of dance styles, combining ballroom and Latin with contemporary choreography, alongside a full cast and production.

A week later, "Dance Across The World" takes place across Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26.

Presented by Danceworld Stage School, this showcase blends dancing, singing and acting, offering performers of different ages a chance to present their work.

It is designed as an accessible event suitable for all ages.

Youth Creation mark a milestone with "Dare You To Move", staged from Friday, July 31, to Saturday, August 1.

Created to celebrate the group’s 20th anniversary, the production combines dance and narrative in a dystopian story exploring identity and individuality.

The performance focuses on young voices and contemporary themes.

Family audiences are likely to be drawn to "The Dinosaur That Pooped – A Rock Show" on Sunday, August 2.

Based on the popular children’s books by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter, the stage adaptation follows two characters racing to secure concert tickets.

It combines music, humour and an original storyline aimed at younger viewers.

Rounding off the highlights is "Grease The Musical", running from Thursday, August 6, to Saturday, August 8.

Performed by a young cast, this amateur production revisits the well-known story of Sandy and Danny, featuring familiar songs and a 1950s high school setting.

Together, the programme reflects a varied summer season, with something to suit both regular theatre-goers and families alike.
