GCSE results at schools across Castle Point and Rochford

Schools across Castle Point and Rochford recorded strong GCSE performances after students collected their grades.

At The King John School in Thundersley, students celebrated another successful year, with a number of pupils achieving exceptional grades.

Headteacher Daniel Steel said he was "incredibly proud" of pupils and the determination they had shown throughout their studies.

He added: "Today is about celebrating every student who has worked hard, overcome challenges and achieved results that will enable them to take their next steps with confidence."

Elsewhere in Castle Point, Castle View School on Canvey recorded its strongest GCSE results on record.

Headteacher Steve Durkin said: “Our students have worked hard and should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved.”

Cornelius Vermuyden School, also on Canvey, celebrated its strongest GCSE results for many years.

School leaders praised pupils and staff after significant improvements across English, maths and a range of other subjects.

At The Appleton School in Benfleet, pupils also celebrated impressive performances.

Top achievers included Libby Twiggs, who secured six grade 9s and two grade 8s, while Zoe Vassiliou achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s.

At The Deanes School in Benfleet, students were praised for their hard work, resilience and determination after collecting their GCSE results.

Among the standout performers were Renzo Batta, who secured a string of top grades including grade 9s in maths and Spanish.

In Rochford district, The King Edmund School reported its strongest GCSE results in recent years.

Students achieved the highest number of English and maths passes in the school's history, while leaders said the school is now among the five most improved in Essex.

At FitzWimarc School in Rayleigh praised the achievements of the Class of 2026 and said success should be recognised in many different forms.

Headteacher Robert Harris added: "Whether a student has achieved the very highest grades, exceeded their own expectations, or secured the qualifications they need for their chosen pathway, each achievement deserves to be recognised."

Meanwhile, students at Lift Greensward School in Hockley marked another successful results day, with James Raynor earning one of the highest OCR 3D Design marks in the country.

Pupils at Sweyne Park School in Rayleigh also celebrated an impressive set of GCSE results.

Headteacher John Edwards said: "Results Day is always a very special moment for our pupils, and we are immensely proud of what this year group has achieved."
