Drivers are facing severe delays on the A127 during rush hour, after an "obstruction" blocked the road.
The eastbound carriageway is partially blocked just before the Halfway House roundabout, with traffic backing up towards Junction 29 of the M25.
Delays are currently around 13 minutes, and increasing, according to the AA.
Average speeds are reported to be around 10 miles per hour.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys, as the cause of the "obstruction" remains unknown.
