A children's hospice in south Essex is giving the public a rare opportunity to explore its newly created Moana-inspired sensory garden and learn more about the specialist care it provides.
Little Havens, which supports children and young people with complex and incurable conditions, is set to host an open day for residents, supporters and anyone curious about its work.
The hospice, based in Thundersley, will welcome visitors on September 27 between 1pm and 4pm.
Guests will be able to tour the hospice, meet members of the care and fundraising teams and find out more about volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
One of the highlights will be access to the hospice's new Pacific island-inspired garden, which was unveiled earlier this year and is usually only available to families supported by Little Havens.
The immersive outdoor space was created in partnership with The Walt Disney Company UK & Ireland and landscaping duo The Green Genie Brothers.
Inspired by Disney's "Moana", the garden combines tropical planting, colourful features and sensory elements designed to create a calm and welcoming environment.
Supporters will also be able to enjoy refreshments and browse merchandise during the afternoon.
Karen Summers, individual giving fundraising manager at Havens Hospices, said many people are surprised when they visit the hospice for the first time.

She said: “We’re often asked what Little Havens is really like - many people assume it’s a sad place, but it’s actually full of life, love and laughter and not what people expect.
“Whether you’re a long-time supporter, considering getting involved, or simply curious, this is a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing work we do and meet the people behind our specialist care and support.”
The hospice says the event will provide a valuable insight into how donations help support children and families across Essex.
There is free parking available on site and the building is wheelchair accessible.
Visitors do not need to book in advance but are encouraged to register their interest to help organisers plan for the day.
