Firefighters were called to a field fire near Witham after a bonfire spread to an old boat and tyres.
Crews from Witham and Maldon attended the incident on Thursday, August 27, Witham Fire Station said.
The station said firefighters found that a bonfire had spread after arriving at the scene, setting fire to an old boat, tyres and the field.

In a social-media post, Witham Fire Station warned that vegetation remains dry despite recent rainfall and the weather forecast.
It urged people not to have bonfires and to take care in dry areas of vegetation.
A spokesperson said: “Despite the rain that we have had and the current forecast, everywhere is still dry, and it will be for the foreseeable.
“We urge people not to have a bonfire, and be careful when in dry areas of vegetation.”
