Yobs on motorbikes breaking into and damaging cars in south Essex has prompted police to issue guidance about keeping your vehicle safe.
Two men were reported to be driving up and down roads in and around Southend and attempting to steal from vehicles last week.
One incident happened on Salisbury Avenue in Westcliff between 7.30pm and 11am, leaving the vehicle's wing mirrors also damaged.
Another resident reported his car being broken into on Salisbury Road in Leigh just after midnight, and spotted the men fleeing on their motorbike on CCTV.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We received a report of theft from a motor vehicle in Salisbury Avenue, Westcliff.
“A cars wing mirrors were damaged between 7/30pm and 11am.
“Our local officers are aware and regularly patrol our residential street to deter offences like this.”

The force also encouraged residents to lock their vehicles, close windows and sun roofs, and secure anything that is on the outside of the vehicle.
They also advised fitting tamper-resistant screws on numberplates and fit locking wheel nuts to secure alloys.
