A Lithuanian man is to stand trial next year for allegedly stabbing somebody in a south Essex neighbour dispute.

Saulius Kursaitis, 48, of Grange Road in Bowers Gifford, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday (September 29) to inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

He is alleged to have wounded the man on August 28.

He is also charged with assaulting a woman by beating her on the same date, to which he also pleaded not guilty through a Lithuanian interpreter.

His trial was fixed for March 15.

Until then, Judge Samantha Cohen told Basildon Crown Court, he will be remanded into custody.
