Essex has produced and become home to a number of well-known celebrity names.

Using Wikipedia’s Pageviews Analysis tool, we have identified the five most searched for celebrities connected to the county.

The figures cover views since January 1, 2026, alongside each person’s daily average.

Dame Helen Mirren

Dame Helen Mirren topped the list as the most searched-for Essex celeb, with 1,862,588 Wikipedia views since January 1.

That works out at 6,724 views a day.

Dame Helen was raised in Leigh after moving to the Essex town as a child. She attended Hamlet Court Primary School and later St Bernard’s High School for Girls in Westcliff.

She earned pocket money running a dart stall at Southend’s famous Kursaal, and two performances she watched in the then-town as a child inspired her to become an actress.

After leaving school, Mirren joined the National Youth Theatre before being accepted into the Royal Shakespeare Company, helping launch her professional acting career.

Dame Helen rose to global fame in Prime Suspect, The Queen and Elizabeth I, winning an Oscar, a Tony and three Golden Globe Awards while supporting the arts in Essex.

Sir Rod Stewart, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, ranked second with 1,811,769 Wikipedia views this year.

Sir Rod was not born or raised in Essex but has lived in the county for several decades.

He bought Wood House near Epping in 1986 and kept it until 2019.

Sir Rod owns Durrington House, a Grade II-listed manor near Sawbridgeworth on the Hertfordshire-Essex border, which he bought in 2013 and uses as his main home.

Premier League star Max Dowman’s Wikipedia page had 887,409 views this year, averaging 3,204 a day.

He was born in Chelmsford on December 31, 2009, and began his football journey with Billericay Town FC’s youth setup before joining Arsenal’s academy in 2015.

The Arsenal attacking midfielder and winger attended Brentwood School and collected his GCSE results there this year.

He has had several headline-making moments this year, which have led to a boost in his Wikipedia page views.

Dowman became the Premier League’s youngest goalscorer when he scored for Arsenal against Everton on March 14, aged 16 years and 73 days.

He was also part of the Arsenal side that won the 2025-26 Premier League title, making him the youngest player ever to win the competition at 16 years and 139 days old.

Richard Osman

Richard Osman’s Wikipedia page had 519,810 views this year, averaging 1,877 a day.

Born in Billericay in 1970, Osman is a bestselling author, TV presenter and producer.

He is best known for co-hosting the BBC quiz show Pointless and writing the Thursday Murder Club novels. The Netflix film The Thursday Murder Club, which also stars Helen Mirren, is based on the series.

Earlier this year, Osman announced We Chase Shadows, the next novel in his hugely successful murder-mystery series.

Born in Southend on March 2, 1989, the actress attended St Hilda’s School before moving on to Westcliff High School for Girls.

She is best known for playing Missandei in Game of Thrones and Ramsey in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Emmanuel played Young Nala in the West End production of The Lion King aged 10, helping launch her acting career.
