An MP in south Essex has backed a national charity campaign to support vital work for people affected by breast cancer.

Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, joined Breast Cancer Now to Wear It Pink in Westminster on Wednesday.

Now in its 25th year, the initiative has raised more than £45 million since 2002 to fund life-saving science and support.

The Westminster event took place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, encouraging MPs across the UK to wear pink in Parliament to raise awareness.

Speaking after the event, Mr Francois said: “I was proud to join Breast Cancer Now in Westminster to support Wear It Pink and stand with everyone affected by breast cancer.

“The event was a powerful reminder that there’s still work to be done to better support people living with this devastating disease across the UK.”
