A historic Essex castle is set to be transformed into a festive wonderland this December with a brand new event.
Hedingham Castle has announced The Knight Before Christmas, collaborating with independent artists to create an original experience blending theatrical performances, festive illuminations and enchanting soundscapes.
Running from December 6 to December 20, the event will bring the castle's historic grounds to life through the story of Baubry, Hedingham's Blue Boar Cub, taking visitors on a journey through the mischief and magic of a Norman Christmas.
Guests will be able to wander beneath illuminated trees, admire glowing reflections across the lake and explore the castle's iconic 12th-century Norman Keep beneath the winter night sky.
Organisers say the experience offers much more than a traditional light trail, with live theatre woven throughout the route to create an evening of storytelling and festive entertainment.

Demetra Lindsay, chatelaine of Hedingham Castle, said: "We wanted to create an experience that would be completely authentic to the castle's extraordinary history and yet make it a wonderful evening to share with friends.
"The ancient landscape at night is truly magical."
Regarded as one of the country's best-preserved examples of Norman architecture, Hedingham Castle has a history stretching back almost 900 years.
Its medieval parkland, ancient ramparts and landscaped gardens will provide the backdrop for the festive experience, allowing visitors to enjoy the site in a unique way after dark.
The celebrations will continue with the Keep Christmastide Market on the closing weekend, from December 18 to 20.
The market will offer shoppers the chance to pick up last-minute Christmas gifts from independent traders alongside festive food and drink.
To complete the festivities, the mansion's silk-lined dining room will be transformed into a seasonal setting, adding another touch of Christmas magic to the castle's winter programme.
Tickets for The Knight Before Christmas are available through Hedingham Castle's website.
