Drivers face long delays across Canvey as roadworks and utility works disrupt key routes.

Roadworks are causing westbound congestion on the A130 Long Road between Furtherwick Road and Canvey Road, with delays towards the mainland.

Somnes Avenue is also seeing very slow traffic in both directions.

Temporary traffic lights for electricity works are causing further delays on Western Esplanade between Cleveland Road and Ferndale Crescent.

Roadworks and utility works are causing congestion on some of the island’s busiest routes, especially at peak times.

Drivers should plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible while the works continue.

No completion dates have been given for the roadworks or electricity works.

The recurring congestion forms part of a wider access problem, with a third road on and off Canvey included in regional transport plans.
