Homes have been evacuated and a bomb squad is on the scene after "items" were found inside a proeprty.

A 100-metre cordon has been put in place in Brentwood after the "small items" were found at a property, requiring specialist assessment.

Essex Police were called to Sawyers Grove at around 7.20am today (Friday, October 30), following reports of a neighbour dispute and damage to a door.

Officers forced entry to an address and arrested a man and a woman.

During a search of the property, they say they discovered several small items requiring specialist assessment.

A police spokesperson said: "The cordon has been put in place as a precaution while specialists assess the items.

"Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were called to the scene and are examining the items to establish what they are.

"A number of homes within the 100-metre cordon have been evacuated as a precaution while this work continues.

"We thank to the public for their patience and will issue an update as soon as we can."
