A DISTRAUGHT fiance has spoken of his heartbreak after his beloved wife-to-be was killed in a car crash.

Policeman Paul Glensman’s dreams of marrying Sarah Eaton were tragically dashed when 25-year-old Sarah, from Horndon-on-the-Hill, died in an accident on the M1 last week.

Mr Glensman, an Essex Police constable, fought back tears as he recalled first meeting Sarah six years ago when he was called to minor accident on the A13 involving her dad, Brian.

He said: “It’s tragic. I found her on the side of the road and now I’ve lost her on the side of the road.

“The first time I saw her, Sarah was standing by the car. I’d never seen anyone as beautiful. I asked for her and her dad’s mobile numbers.

“She said ‘why do you want mine?’ I said, ‘so I can take you out afterwards’.”

Sarah was killed when her car hit a crash barrier on the M1 in Leicestershire, at about 9.30am on Tuesday last week. No other vehicles were involved.

She was on her way to Derby, for a two-day training course, provided by her employer, Laindon-based Welcome Finance.

Sarah was born at Basildon Hospital, lived in Kirkenshaw, Horndon-on-the-Hill and was educated at St Clere’s School, Stanford-le-Hope and Palmer’s College, Grays.

She has hoped to join her fiance as a police officer and had been in the process of applying to join Essex Police days before she died.

Mr Glensman, 32, who lives in Dagenham, said: “She had wanted to join the police for as long as I can remember.

“This was her third attempt. She had just finished writing up the application. It was one of the best I’d ever read.”

The couple had been engaged since February 2007, when Mr Glensman proposed while the couple were on a skiing trip in France.

* Sarah’s funeral will be next Tuesday at St Peters and St Paul’s church, Horndon-on-the-Hill at 10am.
