Southend Council leader Nigel Holdcroft and his Tory colleagues are out of touch with the strength of feeling on retaining a pool at Warrior Square.
Just from my own experience on the doorstep, the Warrior Square pool saga is just one of many examples of the town centre being allowed to die, as public amenities and retail outlets are moved to the outskirts.
To be replaced with what? In answer to my repeated questions, Conservative councillors have refused to deny a luxury hotel will be built on the site in Warrior Square.
The council’s plans for the future of the site continue to remain secret.
One has to ask just whose side are these Tories on – local residents or developers?
