So the leader of Southend Council, Nigel Holdcroft, is furious after spending £36,000 of public money and not winning the “competition”
for the £5million of funding after being assured it was “virtually” guaranteed to go through.
Don’t you think there were enough clues in the offer that would make you think twice before spending £36k?
Anyway, never mind trying to get funding, why doesn’t the council spend the insurance money it received when the bowling alley burned down, and later when the station at the end of the pier was destroyed? Or has it been spent on “virtual competitions”?
