GLAMOUR of the Kill will be summoning fans to Chinnery’s on Southend Seafront this Saturday.

The metalcore four-piece play the venue as part of a run of gigs to promote their forthcoming debut album, the Summoning.

Blending styles as diverse as pop to metal, the band have been described as a “crossover phenomenon in the making” by Metal Hammer magazine.

Metal Hammer was the mag which gave the York band, who formed in 2003, their big break, awarding their recording Demo Of The Month status in the early days.

Other music magazines followed suit, with Kerrang! inviting them to support Bullet For My Valentine at an awards ceremony.

Along the way, the band acquired a reputation as a live act, resulting in an invitation to open the 2008 Download Festival.

After releasing a couple of EPs the band recently completed their first full-length album in the studio.

Guitarist Chris Gomerson said: “Our influences are still pop, metal and Eighties, but on the album, we’ve made the pop parts more catchy, the metal parts heavier and the Eighties parts, well, more Eighties.

“We’ve gone extreme in all directions!”

The Chinnery’s date is part of a 38-date headline tour, across the UK and Ireland, lasting eight weeks.

Gomerson added: “We know there are many people in the UK who have read about Glamour of the Kill in the media but haven’t had a chance to see the band live and connect with us.

“With the tour in March we’ll be heading to places not usually known for being part of the common touring circuit. We refuse to leave any stone unturned.”

Doors at Chinnery’s, on Marine Parade, Southend, open at 8.30pm. Admission is £6.50 and support comes from Yashin and Cinders Fall.
