SOUTHEND United striker Freddy Eastwood inspired the Shrimpers to a 3-0 victory over Hartlepool at Roots Hall on Saturday and is now determined to end the season as the top scorer in League One.

The highly-rated hot shot bagged a brilliant brace to send Steve Tilson's side eight points clear at the top of the table as the five teams immediately below them all failed to win.

But having taken his goalscoring tally to 20, Eastwood has individual honours in his sights as well as automatic promotion.

"I have reached my target I set myself but I'm not finished yet," warned the former Grays Athletic forward.

"I'll keep going for more goals because I want to end the season as the top scorer at this level."

Eastwood currently has 18 League efforts to his name, which leaves him two behind leader Lee Trundle of Swansea and one behind Scunthorpe's Billy Sharp.
