There is a short cycle path at the top of Southend’s York Road outside Iceland that is used for parking by blue badge holders.
I asked an owner of one of the cars if she would mind refraining from parking in the lane. I was told in no uncertain terms that she could park wherever she liked “because of her blue badge”.
I phoned the council, which told me blue badge holders cannot park in cycle lanes and a warden would have issued a ticket.
Blue badge holders note, and traffic wardens please ensure cycle lanes are kept free for cyclists.
