What a shame Southend Council will not allow Jayne Johns to bring her donkeys on to Southend beach.
I think they would be a huge attraction and give our children a taste of days gone by.
Having donkeys myself, I know what beautiful serene animals they are. Good luck MP David Amess with his fight to overturn the council’s decision and good luck Jayne.
I hope lots of children go to Hockley Woods to support her, I know I will be taking mine along for a ride.

...I agree with Southend Council for not allowing donkey rides on our beaches (May 12).
Not only to protect the Blue Flag status, but also to protect the donkeys.
With the increase in obesity among young children, we should be encouraging them to walk along the beach, rather than riding on the poor donkeys.
I am sure these donkeys are very well cared for, but I am sure they would far rather be walking and frolicking around a field!
