Can someone please tell me why the building of Roscommon Way on Canvey has been started at Haven Road, and not at the Morrisons end of the island? Common sense would have dictated that starting at that end would have been safer.

We already have lorries, tankers and HGVs all putting wear and tear on Canvey Road. To add to that we now have the extra weight of tipper lorries and heavy plant, which is just the start of the Roscommon Way scheme.

Our property on Canvey Road shakes as if there was an earthquake when these lorries go past. Think of the damage these vehicles are doing to drainage, sewer and gas pipes and mains water supplies.

There are also children coming home from school, crossing Haven Road, to the corner shop. One would have thought health and safety would have been an issue. We have now found out that the land at the back of Morrisons has been sold to Castle Point Council.

What would happen if we had to have major repairs to Canvey Road, before Roscommon Way was finished?

When they start the new town centre, will we get all that traffic as well? It only takes one spark to ignite a gas leak.
