I would ask Essex County Council why none of the local residents were informed of the proposal for a concrete crusher on Charfleets, Canvey.
The wildlife agency was consulted, so was Castle Point Council and Canvey Town Council. None of these bodies objected. It seems the welfare of wildlife is more important than mere people.
The installation will bring daily movements of heavy trucks and the potential for noise and air pollution.
According to the application, only inert materials will be crushed. I do not believe the dust generated from concrete crushing is inert. Depending on the mix, additives could have been mixed in the concrete and these could become airborne on crushing.
Many people live close to the site and the council should put their welfare before other considerations.
The decision must be shelved until this has been done.
