I was interested to read Carl Watson’s concerns that Rayleigh has too many restaurants.
Rochford District Council has allowed in excess of 15 hairdressers to be allowed to trade in the Rayleigh area.
The council has also allowed so many taxis to be plated within the area, but provides nothing like enough places for the taxi drivers to rank up to apply their lawful trade for which they pay the council for annually.
Why should eating establishments be excluded from the harsh realities of the commercial world?
Though appreciating the proposed restaurant in Church Street is more or less directly opposite Mr Watson’s eating establishment, I’m afraid what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say!
Isn’t it strange how things can often have little significance until they affect one’s own situation.
