A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed after a crash in Rettendon.
James Lawton, 52, from Ingatestone, was riding with four other motorcyclists at the time of the crash which happened this morning at around 7.30am.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Main Road, Rettendon Common.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the motorcyclist collide with a silver Chevrolet Matiz travelling in the opposite direction.
The road was closed for more than six hours while police carried out an investigation.
Police said Mr Lawton's family had been told the tragic news.
