While not in agreement with the changes Southend Council is making to this town, I feel I must give credit where credit is due.
We came home from holiday recently to find someone had dumped ten Castle Point bags of garden rubbish in the gutter outside our house. A phone call to Castle Point Council was met with contempt and a refusal to collect them.
The bags were beginning to split open and smell.
After a further call I was still treated with rudeness.
In desperation I rang Southend Council, expecting the same response. Not a bit of it.
After explaining the situation, I was treated with politeness by a young man from the customer care team.
He then arranged for someone to come out, inspect the rubbish and have it removed within 24 hours, as promised.
Thank you to all concerned.
