I am a regular at the White Horse pub, in Southchurch, and read the report about the pub’s licence review (Jan 10).
I visit the pub at least three times a week and can honestly say it is not a den of iniquity as the police are making out.
It is a large pub with a huge catchment area, but there is rarely any trouble.
I was impressed the Echo took the time to obtain opposing points of view from local residents. I would say to Maria Fellows that the pub has been there far longer than she has, so if she chose to live in Hamstel Road then she should expect it to be a bit lively on a weekend night.
It was reported police also visited a handful of other pubs in the borough searching for class A drugs. The White Horse is not the only pub in Southend that has an alleged drug problem.
