Basildon Council leader Tony Ball stated that some of the Kent View recreation ground in Vange would be left for residents “to walk their dogs, have a kick about and general recreation”'
(Aug 4).
Does he not realise that it takes only one house to be started on the recreation ground for the protective legal covenant to have been breached, thus opening the floodgates for compensation claims from the residents?
However, there is an alternative.
Turn the Kent View Recreation Ground into a proper park. Mr Ball would have the full backing of residents in this, who would be more than willing to continue assisting in the upkeep of the recreation ground as they do already.
Is Mr Ball willing to adopt this approach and work with us to make Vange a better place to live?
The strength of opposition from residents of Vange, is nothing more than their reaction to the fundamentally wrong decision to build on a much-loved, much-used and much-needed recreation ground.
