Isn’t it strange how things have a habit of repeating themselves.
All this talk about regeneration and how the developers want to bring Gloucester Park into the town centre to create a feeling of Basildon once more being in the countryside.
I came upon a photograph recently from the early 1970s showing how the town square used to be countrified.
So what’s new Wilson Barratt? If we wait long enough we could one day find the town square has been turfed over and covered with a roof.
Crazier things have happened before.
