People have become used to being ripped off by businesses, but it comes to something when our Government sinks to those depths.
Any pretence the increase in toll charges is anything other than a tax has long gone.
The previous Government was no better. When its transport minister Stephen Ladyman claimed the tolls were necessary to stop traffic queuing on the bridge and overloading it.
There was also the suggestion we should use alternatives.
We could all go the long way round. That would completely clog up the M25.

...Once again the British motorist is robbed by the Dartford Crossing. It’s pure greed and nothing to do with keeping the traffic moving.
Buldoze the booths, put in average speed cameras and let the industry get moving

...My family live in Kent so I use the crossing frequently.
When they built the first tunnel they promised when it was paid for, the tolls would stop. They built the second tunnel. Same promise.
Then came the bridge.
Same promise.
All these projects have now been paid for and they are raising prices instead of honouring the pledge.
