A FORMER ambulance chief has been found not guilty of grooming a 15-year-old boy for sex.

Anton van Dellen, 41, was accused of driving the teenager, from Benfleet, to a secluded spot before locking the doors of his car and encouraging him to carry out a sex act.

The pair were alleged to have flirted on social networking site Facebook before they met in person.

Van Dellen, of Stamford Brook Avenue, Hammersmith, west London, is a qualified medical doctor and barrister who served two months as interim chief executive of the Welsh Ambulance Service until August 2006.

A jury at Basildon Crown Court found him not guilty of meeting a child aged under 16 after sexual grooming between May and June last year.
