Chalkwell restaurant destroyed in blaze
A RESTAURANT has been destroyed in a blaze.
A fire broke out in the kitchen area of The Bistro in The Ridgeway, Chalkwell, shortly after 6.15am.
The tenants of the flat above were evacuated.
Five fire crews from Southend, Leigh, Rayleigh Weir and Basildon spent more than an hour tackling the blaze.
The flat remains habitable but the business has been destroyed.
Essex fire and police have launched an investigation to find the cause.
